We are working with a team of heritage specialists to help us deliver the project. Read about their strengths in helping us achieve our goals:

Tim Burge

Tim is a heritage professional, specialising in collections management, project development and organisational resilience, with experience of working with independent, local authority and national organisations. He has worked with Chard since 2018, supporting the museum to develop and deliver the 50 Years and Beyond programme.

Other recent clients include Bridport Museum, The Royal Artillery Museum and The National Museum of The Royal Navy. He also delivers training and support on all aspects of museum documentation and collections management. Prior to setting up his consultancy, Tim worked as Museum Development Officer for Wiltshire Council.

Sam Hunt

Sam Hunt is an independent consultant with extensive experience of working with heritage organisations across the UK, from voluntary run museums to national institutions on a wide variety of projects. He is currently part of a team of consultants delivering the AIM Prospering Boards programme and a trustee of the National Maritime Museum Cornwall.

Previously Executive Director of the Association of Independent Museums, he was Chief Executive of the South West Museums, Libraries and Archives Council and Chief Executive of the South West Museums Council. Prior to that he was Head of Bath Museums Service and  Senior Keeper at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter.  

George Tasker – Architect

George started his career in the early 1990’s working hands on for various conservators in Devon and Somerset. He is a chartered architect with specialist building conservation accreditation and has previously worked for practices in Bath and Bristol. This experience includes diverse projects from small scale domestic alterations to larger historic houses, community buildings, visitor centres, and museums. George now heads up Corbel’s architecture practice working alongside their team of main contractors and specialist craftsmen and women.

Helen Horler

Helen leads on Community Engagement and work will help to gather information, feedback, and ideas from our community about what matters to them about Chard’s collection and the museum buildings. Her work will allow us to know more about what existing and potential visitors think about the museum now and in the future. This research gathered through creative activities, surveys and conversations will help shape ideas and gain support from funders as it will show what a difference their funding will make to the people of Chard and beyond.

Helen has 20 years of experience with lottery-funded heritage projects, from volunteer-run museums to client reporting to national charities such as the Woodland Trust and Royal Mencap Society.
