“took my 4 young grandchildren to visit and they loved it. I’m ashamed to say that I have lived in Chard for 26 years and it was my first visit. I will be back as loved the whole experience” Chard resident (Trip Advisor, 2018)
“I thoroughly enjoyed the old photos with accompanying interesting information about my great-great-grandfather, James Gillingham. It was fascinating to “visit” a famous ancestor” Visitor (Facebook, 2019)
“an amazing eclectic museum; the first unmanned flight; one of the earliest x-rays; the earliest prosthetics and so much more. Brilliant! Great staff and free coffee” Visitor (Facebook, 2019)
“we have been visiting Chard for a number of years to see family but had never visited the museum before yesterday. Run by a very friendly and very knowledgeable band of volunteers the museum is an absolute treasure trove of local memories” Visitor from Oakham, Rutland (Trip Advisor, 2019)
"A small but packed museum telling an interesting history of the area and its notable characters. We visited today and experienced a very well organised and well considered operation given the additional safety measures that need to be in place. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly offering a good balance of time to explore with helping guide us through and sharing knowledge. With 2 young children in tow we were pleased with how they were welcomed and the information shared was geared to them. Would definitely recommend visiting this little gem. A free trip out but a donation should be encouraged to ensure the survival of these lovely little local museums" Visitor (Google Review, August 2020)
